What Now?

We are living through an age of increasing conflict.

Wars are widening, disasters multiplying, and whole nations shifting beneath

their people’s feet.

No one chooses to become a refugee.

But you never know when the world will call you one.

Global displacement is accelerating -

and with it, the need for dignified, community-led solutions grows more

urgent than ever.

Life as a refugee means rebuilding amid loss,

finding rhythm again in the noise of uncertainty.

Fleeing from conflict, persecution, or climate catastrophe,

millions carry the same question: what now?

Projects like Sound of Freedom offer an answer -

not through handouts, but through human creativity.

Born from our pilot funding round at the end of last year,

this collaboration between Refunite and Relay Funder supported the creation of a music school and recording studio within the Burundian

refugee community in Uganda.

It began as an experiment. A pilot.

It became a movement — one that proves when people are trusted with resources,

they build systems of sustainability, not dependency.
